The puppet musical "Avenue Q" has just been extended for a third time at the Phoenix Theatre, and Travelzoo subscribers can now save 30% on tickets.
Prime Tier 1 seating is $45 (reg. $65) for shows Thursday-Saturday, June 12-14 and Friday-Saturday, June 20-21 at 8 p.m. There is also a limited number of tickets available to the 3 p.m. show on Saturday, June 21.
Variety praises the staying power of the show, noting that "of all the musicals hatched in the post-2000 age of irony, this cheeky satire has remained the freshest and funniest."
"Avenue Q" is a hilarious and touching story of real life in New York City, told by a cast of both people and puppets. Princeton, a bright-eyed college grad, comes to New York City with big dreams and a tiny bank account. He discovers Avenue Q -- the only neighborhood in his price range -- and commiserates on everything from jobs to dating with his newfound neighbors. Music and lyrics for the show were written by Robert Lopez, co-creator of "The Book of Mormon."
Note: “Avenue Q" playfully addresses issues like sex, drinking, and Internet pornography; if Broadway shows were rated, this show would be rated "R."
