San Francisco Opera's "Cosi fan tutte" and "The Tales of Hoffmann" are playing to rave reviews. Tickets are 40-50% off both shows at the War Memorial Opera House. S.F. Classical Voice calls the cast of "Cosi" an "ultra-smooth, honeyed ensemble" and touts "Hoffmann" as "brilliant."
Tickets are up to 50% off -- $15.50-$148.50 (reg. $31-$297) -- Monday-Thursday performances and 40% off -- $38-$204 (reg. $64-$340) -- Friday-Sunday performances for the following dates:
"Cosi fan tutte, The School for Lovers"
"The Tales of Hoffmann"
Note: The $15.50 lead rate is available on the June 26 performance of "Cosi fan tutte." The other weeknight performances are OperaVision performances with tickets starting at $20.50.
In Mozart's comedy, "Cosi fan tutte, The School for Lovers," two young soldiers disguise their identities to test their lovers' fidelity. "An extremely fine 'Cosi' whose light and love continue to shine long after the curtain has closed,” according to San Francisco Classical Voice. Jacques Offenbach's "The Tales of Hoffmann" tells the story of a love-struck poet who recalls his three lost loves--a mechanical doll, a young singer and a courtesan. San Francisco Chronicle calls it "a forceful performance boasting a first-rate cast."
