The San Francisco Opera kicks off its 2013 summer season with a new production of "The Tales of Hoffmann," and tickets are up to 50% off select performances. NPR calls the opera "one of the grandest and most expressive of all 19th-century French operas." S.F. Classical Voice says "the production is so brilliant, and the singing so superb, that it simply must be seen."

All tickets are 50% off for Tuesday-Thursday performances, $15.50-$148.50 (reg. $31-$297), and 40% off the Friday-Sunday performances, $38-$204 (reg. $64-$340), for the following dates:

  • Friday, June 14 at 8 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 20 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday, June 27 at 7:30 p.m.

Note: The cheapest tickets are available for the Tuesday, June 11, performance.

Jacques Offenbach's richly imaginative and melodic masterpiece tells the story of a sensitive poet who searches for love and repeatedly finds it lies just beyond his reach. Opera News says Matthew Polenzani "scored a triumph" as Hoffmann.
