Make your visit to the San Diego Zoo or San Diego Zoo Safari Park a family affair this month and save big. Purchase an adult ticket to either attraction for $36 (regularly $40), and bring the kids for free (a $30 value) through Oct. 31.

The 100-acre San Diego Zoo, located in Balboa Park, is home to more than 4,000 rare and endangered animals and a botanical collection of more than 700,000 exotic plants.

The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, located in Escondido, is an expansive wildlife sanctuary that is home to more than 3,500 animals and 1.5 million botanical specimens.

Fall Zoo and Safari Park hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Adult zoo passes include unlimited use of the guided bus tour, express bus and Skyfari aerial tram, and adult Safari Park passes include the Africa Tram and Conservation Carousel ride. Upgrade to include these features in children's tickets for an additional $10.

Free tickets valid for children ages 3-11 for use through Oct. 31, 2011. No ticket required. Adult tickets are valid one year from purchase date. The San Diego Zoo is located at 2920 Zoo Drive, San Diego, CA, and offered free parking. The Safari Park is located at 15500 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, CA. Parking is not included. Fees are an additional $1 per ticket. Restrictions may apply.
