Recently restored to its original 1927 design, the iconic Saenger Theatre in New Orleans is reopening. To celebrate, the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra will conduct a free concert on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m.
The show is designed to reflect on the history of the theater through music. The orchestra will highlight selections from famous movies played at the theater, as well as Broadway productions and artists that have performed on the stage.
The Saenger Theatre's new state-of-the-art layout features an expanded stage, new seating and increased concessions. Historic photographs were used during the renovation to re-create the building's original color scheme and decor.
