Cheap Flights to Mexico City

Mexico City is the largest city in the Americas and is the third most populated city in the world. This global metropolis has a rich history stretching back nearly 700 years to the time of the Aztecs. During the height of the Spanish colonial empire, Mexico City served as the nation's financial and political center. Today, much of this past is still visible, especially in the city's Centro Historico district. Sightseers will enjoy strolling through the area's beautiful plazas, which feature colonial landmarks. It is also here that you'll find the ruins of the Aztec Templo Mayor, one of the main temples of the Aztec people. Family vacationers will enjoy Chapultepec, which at more than 1,600 acres, is one of the largest urban parks in the world. Inside the park, you can explore dozens of attractions, including the National Museum of Anthropology, the Chapultepec Zoo and the Chapultepec Castle, a towering castle that houses the National Museum of History. If you want to find a luxury hotel deal in Mexico City or high-end fashion boutiques, visit the posh Polanco district. For nightlife, head to Condesa. This trendy area of town was once home to Mexico's biggest film stars. Today, it boasts some of the city's best clubs, pubs and restaurants. Quick Travel Guide to Mexico City

For most travelers, Mexico City is too large to explore in just one trip. The city boasts 250 neighborhoods in 16 designated boroughs, each of which has its own personality and culture. One of the best places to begin your journey through Mexico City is at the Plaza de la Constitucion. The enormous open space is located in the heart of the city's historic district. The square itself is a historical site, having been used by the Aztecs as a gathering place. Adjacent to the plaza is the National Palace. The long structure, which is more than twice the size of a football field, houses the offices of Mexico's president, the federal treasury and the offices of the National Archives. Many of the materials that make up the National Palace are from the 16th century palace of Montezuma.

Head just south of from the historical district to Zona Rosa. Popular among tourists, Zona Rosa is commercial and entertainment hub. Here, you will find some of the city's swankiest hotels as well as a large selection of restaurants, bars and clubs. As the home of the Mexico Stock Exchange and several banks, it is a popular destination for business travelers. If you want to buy a one-of-a-kind art piece, visit the Jardin del Arte. Held every Sunday in the Zona Rosa district, this market features more than 100 artists selling their works.

Travel even further south to Coyoacan. This former small colonial town was incorporated into Mexico City in the mid-19th century. Today, Coyoacan retains much of its old-world charm. Here you'll find charming plaza among the district's narrow streets. Buildings dating as far back as the 16th century stand next to newly erected establishments. Visit the Frida Kahlo Museum, which is housed in a small abode where the artist spent the last years of her life.

As evening approaches, head back up north to Condesa for a gourmet dinner or a late-night cocktail. You'll find more than just local cuisine in this chic neighborhood. Restaurant options include everything from Argentinean food to Asian-Italian fusion. As for bars, there is an assortment of low-key pubs and high-energy dance clubs.
