Cheap Flights to Kingston

Jamaica’s capital city, Kingston, is the nation’s major center for culture and commerce. While many of Jamaica’s most popular vacation destinations are remote, tranquil beach resorts, Kingston is an exciting, bustling city of more than 650,000 people. Worlds away from the more distant locales along the island’s coast, Kingston is the place to go when you want to be immersed in Jamaica’s culture and have genuine encounters with the local people. If you choose your airline and travel dates carefully, cheap flights to Kingston can be easy to find. Start planning now and prepare for one of the Caribbean’s most remarkable vacation experiences.

Which Airlines Fly to Kingston?

About 20 airlines offer international flight service to Norman Manley International Airport (KIN), located 17 miles from central Kingston. It is a main hub for Caribbean Airlines, which provides nonstop flights from Fort Lauderdale and JFK in New York. Other airlines with direct service from the Eastern U.S. include American, Delta, JetBlue and Spirit. Unless you’re departing from New York or Fort Lauderdale, chances are good that you’ll have at least one connection in the U.S. or in Montego Bay both coming and going.

Kingston Flight Tips

Jamaica’s busy travel season lasts from December through April, when air fares and hotel rates tend to be their most expensive. You can save substantially by searching for travel deals during the warmer off-season.

Quick Travel Guide to Kingston

There are numerous must-see attractions in Kingston, but it’s often the simple experiences of walking crowded streets, browsing in open-air markets, sampling Jamaican street food and hearing authentic reggae music that prove to be the most interesting and memorable moments. No other city in Jamaica is as active and urban, so even if your ultimate destination is one of the nation’s more laid-back spots like Ocho Rios, Negril or Montego Bay, you may want to consider spending a night or two in the hotels in Kingston.

As for those must-see attractions, the city’s most popular is the Bob Marley Museum, located in the late reggae musician’s former home. This is where many of Marley’s albums were actually recorded, and today it features exhibits and memorabilia from his short but meteoric career. Another impressive site is the Hope Botanical Gardens & Zoo, one of the largest gardens of its type in the Caribbean. The exotic plants and trees that flourish in Kingston’s tropical heat are a sight to behold, and the zoo, while small, has impressive exhibits and creates fun, up-close encounters in its petting zoo area.
