Cheap Flights to Copenhagen

Before you book a round-trip ticket to Copenhagen, Denmark’s cozy capital, keep in mind that you may find it difficult to leave. The city repeatedly listed in multiple rankings as one of the world’s most livable locales has a way of pulling you in with its famously friendly locals, avant-garde dining scene and sites like Tivoli Gardens, the world’s second-oldest theme park and the inspiration for Disneyland. Finding cheap flights to Copenhagen online is an easy first step to planning an unforgettable getaway to this clean, personable and forward-thinking city. Start comparing fares now and see how much you can save by booking early.

Which Airlines Fly to Copenhagen?

International flights to Copenhagen land just over seven miles from the city center at Kastrup Airport (CPH). Kastrup is the main hub for several Nordic airlines including Scandinavian Airlines, which flies nonstop to Copenhagen from Chicago, Newark and Washington D.C. Of the roughly 60 airlines that fly there, the only others with direct service from the U.S. are Continental, with flights from Newark, and Delta, with flights from Atlanta and New York.

You can sometimes find the lowest fares by booking single-connection flights with airlines based elsewhere in Europe, such as British Airways and Germany’s Lufthansa. These flights may involve a few hours of layover time in another European hub, but tickets can be several hundred dollars cheaper than flying direct.

Quick Travel Guide to Copenhagen

Copenhagen is brimming with life and activity, particularly during Denmark’s mild and pleasant summers, so the best way to experience the city is often to do as the locals do. Gather on the patios of taverns and cafes in Nyhavn, the increasingly popular harbor front neighborhood, where you can enjoy local treats as you observe the tall ships navigating the nearby waters. Hunt for bargains along Stroget, the pedestrian boulevard that serves as the heart of Copenhagen’s destination shopping scene. Spend a fair-weather day playing games and taking thrill rides at Tivoli Gardens, then stick around for sundown to see the park glow with more than a million sparkling lights.

When you’re not indulging in the city’s everyday pleasures, there’s serious sightseeing to do; the Danish National Gallery hosts the works of Rembrandt, Picasso and other masters, and the centrally located Copenhagen Zoo remains one of Europe’s best zoological parks. You can ascend to the top of the Rundetarn, the cylindrical tower recognized as one of the city’s most famous landmarks, where you’ll get to savor a panoramic view of the surrounding areas. And if you’re interested in Danish design, make the trip to the Danish Design Centre, where you’ll be amazed by the modern concepts that continue to come out of this international design capital.
