Cheap Flights to Cincinnati

Cincinnati may be Ohio's third-largest city, but its greater metro area is the largest in the state. This center of commerce and culture also boasts the largest National Historic District in the country, making it a great destination for history buffs. The city's picturesque downtown is flanked by the beautiful Ohio River and rolling foothills. Here, in the city's commercial center, you will find Fountain Square, a plaza that claims shops and restaurants. You can also find luxury hotel accommodations in Cincinnati around the square as well.

During the winter, the central plaza features an ice-skating rink. Or take in Cincinnati's diverse arts scene in the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood. This historic area contains the largest collection of Italianate architecture in the U.S. and is home to the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Cincinnati Opera and several theater companies. The district is also home to Findley Market, the oldest continuously operating public market in Ohio. Here, food fans can purchase everything from fish to produce to flowers. Visitors will want to sample the Cincinnati's take on chili, a unique blend of spices based on a Greek recipe. For nightlife, head to the Main Street Entertainment District. This subdistrict within the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood features many clubs and bars. Or visit the bohemian Northside neighborhood. Some of Cincinnati's hippest bars call this district home. Quick Travel Guide to Cincinnati

Begin your trip to Cincinnati by taking in the whole city atop the Carew Tower. The downtown skyscraper, which is the second tallest in the city, features a 49th floor observation deck. From here, head to the Contemporary Arts Center, one of the first institutions in the country dedicated to exhibiting contemporary art. The museum focuses on new works in the media of painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, performance art and new media. The building itself is visually stunning with its sleek, modern exterior. Across the street from the museum is the Aronoff Center, a large multi-theater performance arts center. The center frequently hosts concerts, ballets, plays and stand-up comedy.

Head north of downtown to the Over-the-Rhine district. While enjoying the unique architecture that graces the historic streets, stop in the many neighborhood boutique shops and restaurants. The area is also home to a number of cultural landmarks, including nearly a dozen historic churches, the Cincinnati Music Hall and Memorial Hall, which is home to the American Classical Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Families will want to head north past the University of Cincinnati to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Having opened in 1875, the zoo is the second oldest in the U.S. For another kid-friendly outing, visit one of Cincinnati's many parks. The city boasts more than 100 green spaces covering more than 5,000 acres. Sawyer Point is a popular park located adjacent to the Ohio River. Here, in the summertime, you can enjoy a free outdoor concert or stroll along the riverside. Another option is to drive 24 miles northeast of Cincinnati to the nearby town of Mason. Children and adults alike can enjoy the games and rides at the 364-acre Kings Island amusement park.

Take advantage of Cincinnati's eclectic shopping scene by visiting the Clifton Gaslight District. Here, you can browse a mix of unique wares at the bohemian and international shops that call the neighborhood home. If luxury boutiques are more your style, head east to Hyde Park Square and Oakley Square or  west to Northside. These neighborhoods, each located several miles outside of downtown, offer visitors access to some of the most high-end retailers in the city.
