Cheap Flights to Bonaire

With official island license plates that read “Diver’s Paradise,” there’s little question as to Bonaire’s main draw. The island’s entire coastline is a designated marine sanctuary surrounded by a pristine ring of coral reef, drawing diving and snorkeling enthusiasts from around the world. Calm waters, hundreds of fish species and exceptionally experienced diving guides keep Bonaire at the top of the list for incredible underwater adventures. Cheap flights to Bonaire can be found with a little savvy shopping, so if you can feel the deep blue sea calling your name, start comparing fares and planning your trip today.

Which Airlines Fly to Bonaire?

Bonaire’s Flamingo International Airport (BON), with its claim to fame as the world’s only pink airport, welcomes all of the island’s air traffic. Continental offers nonstop flights from Houston and Newark, and Delta flies direct from Atlanta, but these are once-weekly routes. If your travel schedule is incompatible with these flights, you may need to plan for a connection in San Juan or in either of the nearby Dutch islands of Aruba or Curacao. Several smaller international airlines, including Dutch Antilles Express, E-Liner Airways and Insel Air, cover routes from these destinations.

Bonaire Flight Tips

High season in Bonaire begins in mid-December and extends through mid-April, so be sure to book flights far in advance when traveling in this window to avoid pricey fares and sold-out flights.

Quick Travel Guide to Bonaire

Nature herself has gone to great lengths to create the ultimate diving environment around Bonaire. Thanks to its ideal location in the South Caribbean, water temperatures are consistent and warm, and rainfall levels are low, keeping the water clear and calm. Marine park rangers and sea life experts have been hard at work, too, ensuring that the area’s miles of coral reef and hordes of tropical fish are well-protected. Eager divers could travel the world over and not find more amazing underwater sights than those off the coast of this otherwise sleepy island.

Second only to the renowned diving scene, windsurfing and kiteboarding opportunities are also major tourism draws in Bonaire. While the calm West Coast is perfect for divers, the rolling waters off the East Coast have become a favorite place to ride the wind.

Though these active pursuits are the most often cited reasons for trips to Bonaire, there are other points of interest on the island. A stop at Fort Oranje, Bonaire’s oldest standing structure, is a good way to get an appreciation for the island’s history, and Museo Boneriano tells a more complete story of the area through its interesting exhibits. The hotels in Bonaire are largely homey and charming, as is the entire island; with a total population of around 15,000, the friendly, small-town vibe makes fast friends of vacationing strangers.
