To get a sense of Bogota's rich history, begin your trip to this massive city by exploring the La Candelaria district. This colonial area of town boasts many of Bogota's major landmarks, including La Catedral, the seat of the archbishop of Bogota, and Casa de Narino, the home of the president of Columbia. La Candelaria is also the site of many of the city's major museums, including the Gold Museum, the Museum of Colonial Art and the Botero Museum.

Next, head to the neighborhood of San Diego and explore the National Museum, the oldest museum in Columbia.
