The Deal

The National Post's Brett Halliday says The Sultan's Tent "has proven time and again to be one of the wonders of Toronto" and calls the menu "simply stellar." With this deal, enjoy a four-course Moroccan dinner for two with a traditional aperitif for $49, regularly $100.

Choose from an exclusive menu that includes:

First course choices:
• Harira, a spicy soup made with tomatoes, chickpeas and kidney beans
• Salad of cafe greens and freshly cut vegetables topped with a Champagne and pomegranate vinaigrette
• Soup du jour, chosen daily by the chef

Second course choices:
• Traditional hummus garnished with fresh cilantro and toasted pita bread, served with marinated Moroccan olives
• Fekkous salad of cucumber, tomato, apple and chickpeas with citrus-mint dressing
• Hand-rolled "Moroccan cigars" (maftoul), made with mildly spiced beef, cashews and raisins rolled into crispy pastry and topped with chipotle aioli

Third course choices:
• Pan-seared 8-ounce filet of salmon topped with mango salsa and served with basmati rice and seasonal vegetables
• Boneless chicken thighs stewed with Moroccan spices and smothered in honey-buttered onions, apricots and prunes on a bed of fluffy couscous
• Traditional Moroccan stew of vegetables cooked in tomato-curry sauce and served over couscous with preserved butter
• Slow-braised lamb shank with a rich prune demi-glace, topped with preserved lemon and toasted almonds and served with couscous and seasonal vegetables
• Tender beef braised with Moroccan spices and finished with red wine demi-glace, served with Yukon Gold garlic mash and accompanied by seasonal vegetables

Fourth course:
• Dessert of Moroccan cookies, pastries and fruit
• An after-dinner drink of Arak al Shallal, a traditional Turkish anise-flavored liqueur aperitif

Dinner at The Sultan's Tent features belly dancing nightly and "in-tent" Moroccan-style dining. Located in Old Toronto, The Sultan's Tent is just a block from St. Lawrence Market and The Esplanade.
