The Deal

Retreat to an upgraded room at the Governor Hotel with views of Capitol Lake, Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains from the floor-to-ceiling windows. These rooms were renovated top-to-bottom in 2012 and are located on the top two floors with special amenities including a pillow menu and showerhead with eight jets.
"The old and charming downtown area is compact and easy on the feet," says Fodor's of Olympia, with "little unexpected surprises all through town" such as miniature parks and gardens. Walk to Percival Landing Park (less than a half mile away) to browse shops and restaurants along the revitalized, waterfront boardwalk, or check out the state's largest farmers market, open weekends through December.

About the location: The property is tucked between Mount Rainier National Park and Olympic National Park, about one hour south of Seattle and two hours north of Portland.
