One of three Omni properties in New Orleans, the "elegant, contemporary" Royal Crescent (Oyster.com) sits just outside the French Quarter in the relative calm of the Arts District. The hotel has maintained its AAA 4-Diamond status since 2011; the "spacious and pleasant" (Oyster.com) rooms feature dark wood furniture, marble bathtubs and floor-to-ceiling windows.
Head to the hotel’s rooftop sundeck to take in views of the city or to soak in the whirlpool. Show your room key at sister property Omni Royal Orleans (a 15-minute walk away) for complimentary access to that property's rooftop pool as well.
A visit isn’t complete without a stop in the lively French Quarter, which is two blocks away -- guests are just five minutes from Bourbon Street but far enough removed to avoid much of the noise. Stroll five blocks from the hotel for shopping at the recently renovated Riverwalk Marketplace, now known as The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk along the Mississippi River. Both the St. Charles and Canal streetcar lines are within walking distance of this hotel, which is a great way to see the city on the cheap -- just $1.25 a ride.
Dining options include Dress It, the on-site gourmet burger restaurant serving soups, salads, hamburgers, crab cakes and more. Dress It also hosts Art of Breakfast, a buffet served from 6:30-11 a.m. that includes fresh fruits, juices, coffee, pastries, high-quality meats and cheeses.
