McCarren Hotel & Pool is a trendy glass-fronted building on the border of edgy Williamsburg, right beside McCarren Park. The area is buzzing with fashionable restaurants and bars, and there's a regular ferry from Schaefer Landing to East 34th Street in Midtown Manhattan and Wall Street for sightseeing. The hotel also has a number of bright-red Bobbin Bicycles that guests can borrow for free.
There's a brand-new rooftop restaurant and bar (open Wednesday-Sunday) for cocktails, live music and views of the Empire State Building across the water, but the main draw is the saltwater pool (open from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. during summer) and poolside bar. Popular with locals and guests alike, the pool is one of the largest in New York, and guests get free admission -- towel included.
The relaxed bar serves pitchers of cocktails, local beers from Brooklyn Brewery and gourmet bar snacks -- think homemade bread sticks with truffle aioli and pork sliders. In the morning, breakfast is served in The Elm restaurant, with pastries, coffee and juice on offer. In the evenings, it serves classical French cuisine that is also available via room service.
Rooms are slick, with bamboo floors, fresh white walls, and views of McCarren Park or the pool. Bathrooms are particularly stylish and have glass-enclosed rainfall showers. Upgrade to a suite for your own balcony overlooking the park. The opulent penthouse has a sculpted soaking tub and two balconies with Manhattan views.
Valet Parking is $25 per night. Charges will be added to your bill on checkout.
