Rundlestone Lodge, which sits in the shadow if its namesake, Mount Rundle, has interiors reminiscent of a traditional mountain lodge, with wooden and stone decor and a large rundle-rock fireplace in the lobby. This Banff Avenue lodge is a 13-minute drive to Lake Minnewanka, one of the longest glacial lakes in the Canadian Rockies. Boat tours, wildlife tours, hiking, and biking trails are all available at Minnewanka Lake, and Rundlestone offers free bike rentals during the warmer seasons. For winter visitors who want to ski nearby at Mount Norquay (a 15-minute drive away), Rundlestone offers free ski storage.
A 15-minute walk along Banff Avenue will get you into the heart of Banff. There is also a Roam Public Transit bus stop right outside. A one-way ride to shops and restaurants will take 10-minutes and will cost $2. Roam buses can also take visitors directly to the Banff Upper Hot Springs and Banff Gondola. For those using a car to get around, the lodge offers free underground parking.
The lodge’s exercise facilities, including gym, lap pool and indoor hot tub, were all renovated and updated in 2014. Rooms were also recently renovated and have complimentary Wi-Fi and mini-fridge. Guests have the option of standard guest or loft rooms, and premium suites -- some of which can fit up to seven guests, with a kitchenette or with a two-person Jacuzzi.
Families visiting with children can play in the outdoor playground right next to the hotel. Bumpers Beef House, Rundlestone’s on-site restaurant, is open daily for breakfast and dinner. Though the menu is packed with meat-heavy dishes, there are vegetarian options available, including a salad bar.
