As the name suggests, this hotel is big (it has 157 rooms) and it is painted an unmissable shade of blue. It's right next to Blackpool Pleasure Beach -- the Big One, which is the UK's tallest rollercoaster, provides a backdrop to the hotel and can be seen from a number of its bedrooms. It's in the heart of Blackpool's South Shore, just a short tram ride from the centre of this lively seaside resort.
There are plenty of family-friendly attractions nearby, including the Sandcastle Waterpark, which is the UK's largest indoor waterpark and is just half a mile from the hotel. Iconic Blackpool Tower, which was built in 1894 and has an observation deck offering unrivalled views of the seafront, is around two miles from the hotel.
Back at the hotel, there's a fully equipped studio gym and services including personal training, massages and sports injury therapy are available by appointment. The Blues Bar & Brasserie is open all day for drinks and dining. Afternoon tea is served in the bar area or on the patio, weather permitting. There's an à la carte evening menu, and during the day, a bistro-style menu of light bites, sandwiches and meals such as scampi and fries is served in the informal café bar. There's a children's menu and kids can get involved, preparing their own pizzas, tortilla wraps and ice cream sundaes.
There's air conditioning and free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Bedrooms are decorated with Designers Guild fabrics. There are family rooms with separate children's areas featuring bunk beds and PlayStation 3 consoles. Spacious Deluxe suites have separate lounge areas with contemporary fireplaces and Juliet balconies overlooking Pleasure Beach.
