With its extensive wellness, leisure and sporting facilities, this lakeside resort on the western shore of Scharmützelsee offers a tranquil base for both activity-packed holidays and laid-back getaways alike. Three 18-hole golf courses, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, Arnold Palmer and Stan Eby, make the resort a big hit with golfers, and it has won multiple awards, including Germany's Leading Golf Resort 2013 (World Travel Awards) and Germany’s Best Golf Hotel 2014 (World Golf Awards).
Aside from golf, there are plenty of other outdoor pursuits to enjoy, both on the water and in the surrounding landscape of meadows and pine forests -- from cycling and horse riding, to sailing and waterskiing. The resort also has a tennis centre with indoor and outdoor courts.
For something more sedate, head to the SPA-ROSA, which has indoor and outdoor pools, a sun terrace, a choice of saunas and an invigorating ice fountain. There's even a private spa suite with a Finnish sauna and views of the lake. Indulgent treatments, including facials and Ayurvedic massages with aromatic oils, take place in the spa's 22 treatment rooms.
If you've worked up an appetite, the Vitalbar serves healthy snacks and fresh juices, or there are a number of restaurants to choose from including Bootshaus, which has terraces overlooking the lake and the yacht jetty. The light and airy Marktrestaurant also has a spacious terrace and offers buffet choices and show cooking. The Greenside Restaurant's location by the 18th hole of the Arnold Palmer Golf Course makes it popular with golfers, and the Bar am Marktplatz offers a wide selection of drinks and bar snacks.
The 152 air-conditioned rooms and suites are classically decorated and are arranged across three buildings; those in buildings one and two are closest to the heart of the resort and to facilities such as the spa and restaurants. Some rooms have views of the lake, while others look onto the grounds and the golf course.
