More Room Types

A sturdy row of concrete columns frame the façade of the AAA 4-Diamond The Colonnade Hotel, where cool, clean-lined guest rooms have walls of glass looking out onto the surrounding neighborhoods.

Across the street on the north side is the Prudential Center, loaded with shops. The expenditures get even more luxurious only a few blocks farther north on Newbury Street. This lane stocks some of the city’s highest-end boutiques and restaurants, in a neighborhood of genteel streets and posh row houses. On the other side of the hotel is the South End, also rather upscale with a focus more on independent businesses. The tree-lined streets here though are just as atmospheric.

Boston’s only rooftop hotel pool roosts atop the Colonnade, with 360-degree views and summertime alfresco dining. On the ground floor is Brasserie Jo, with a menu and dining room plucked from 1940s Paris, and a James Beard-nominated chef. Burn off the calories in the hotel's sleek 1,000 square-foot gym, lined by a wall of floor-to-ceiling windows and stocked with fresh fruit, towels and water.

A “T” metro line stops right outside the hotel, making a quick trip north toward Boston Common and the Italian-accented North End.

From the press:
  • “A welcome alternative to the chain properties that dominate this neighborhood. The 11-story concrete-and-glass hotel has an attentive, gracious staff and large guest rooms decorated in muted earth tones” -- Frommer’s
  • “In summer the roof-deck pool is the place to be, and draws a mix of local glitterati and lithe European vacationers … For your gastronomic needs, Brasserie Jo is an authentic French brasserie with fantastic salads (get the niçoise)” -- Fodor’s
