Occupying a 19th-century townhouse, the Park South Hotel is an intimate property within a 10-minute walk of Madison Square Park and the Empire State Building. The hotel is on the borders of the hip Flatiron district and historic Murray Hill. Locals flock to the area for some of the best Indian cuisine New York, and 28th Street subway station is at the end of the street for easy access to all of the must-sees in the city.
Fresh off renovations completed in 2016, the hotel’s mezzanine library features black and white photographs and books on the history of the city, and has a definitive “New York flavor,” says Fodor’s. The restaurant serves pan-Atlantic food, and the hearty bistro menu offers a beer recommendation to complement every dish. There’s live jazz to accompany your meal on the weekend and "James Bond" screenings on Sunday afternoons. For cocktails, visitors and locals congregate at the hotel’s rooftop bar.
Rooms have high ceilings and pillowtop beds finished with polished cherry wood headboards, some also offer views of the Chrysler Building. Opt for a room on one of the higher floors, away from 27th Street, for a quieter night’s sleep. Wi-Fi is included in all room rates and guests will find chocolates on their pillows after turndown service.
Guests are welcomed to join the free wine and cheese reception hosted in the lobby Mondays-Thursdays and each morning a spread of freshly baked pastries and coffee greets visitors before they start their day in the Big Apple.
