The Swan Hotel & Spa is a charming, 4-star bed & breakfast accommodation set in a restored 15th-century timber-frame building in Lavenham, in the heart of the Suffolk countryside and near the ancient coastal town of Ipswich and historic Bury St Edmunds.
Containing England's best-preserved Tudor timber-frame buildings, the mediaeval village of Lavenham, home to The Swan Hotel & Spa, offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the period. Lavenham is just 12 miles from the mediaeval market town of Bury St Edmunds and only 18 miles from Ipswich on the Suffolk coast.
The Swan Hotel, with its ancient oak-beamed interiors, large open fireplaces, cosy nooks and minstrel gallery, has a reputation as one of England’s most historic and "quintessentially English" hotels, and has been artfully renovated to add all the comforts, stylishness and facilities of a modern hotel. Many of the 45 individually decorated rooms and suites feature oak beams, leaded windows and other original mediaeval features; upgraded rooms offer 4-poster beds and fireplaces, with views over the gardens. All rooms include breakfast, served in the hotel's Brasserie restaurant or in bed. The hotel's fine-dining restaurant, the two AA-Rosette Gallery, specialises in modern British cuisine. Pets are welcome (may be a surcharge). On-site parking is free.
