Set on a tranquil street just off Brighton’s Marine Parade, this art deco-inspired B&B is housed in two Grade II listed buildings dating back to the early 19th century and features intricate cast iron balconies and gracious bow fronts.

Brighton Pier and fish & chips on the beach are just a 13-minute stroll away, while there’s plenty of shopping to be done in the independently owned boutiques on Brighton’s North Laine district – it’s a 17 minute walk from the hotel. The Royal Pavilion, an Asian-style palace built for King George IV surrounded by gardens, is a Brighton highlight, and only 12 minutes by foot from the B&B.

Vintage pieces throughout the B&B, such as a giant gramophone, add to the vintage feel. Through the art nouveau reception is an art deco-style dining room where a full breakfast is taken. Past guests have raved about the quality and choice: there are 13 different freshly cooked dishes, made with mainly organic ingredients, sourced from local Sussex farms whenever possible. Vegetarians and vegans are as well catered for as bacon-lovers. The family-run B&B prides itself on having a strict eco-friendly policy since long before such things were commercially canny -- the use of low energy lights, local produce, and cleaning products made from natural ingredients is simply part of how things are done here.

The en-suite rooms are individually decorated with bold wallpaper prints, art-deco style furnishings and striking wall art. A few feature canopy or 4-poster beds.

Getting there

The closest airport is at Gatwick, 44 minutes away by car, or take the train direct to Brighton railway station, an 8-minute drive or 12-minute bus trip (take the number 27, which stops on the Marine Parade, a 2-minute walk from the hotel). If you’re driving, parking is available -- the hotel advises that you acquire the hotel guests’ parking voucher from reception as soon as you arrive, rather than attempting to navigate Brighton’s draconian parking regulations. It should cost £10 for 24 hours.
