In Warsaw's charming Old Town, the Castle Inn is an eclectic 22-room hotel set in a 16th-century townhouse.

The partially walled Old Town dates back to the 13th century and its main square is one of the prettiest in the city. All but two buildings lining the square were reconstructed after WWII and showcase Baroque, Gothic and Neo-classical styles. The hotel is 100 metres from the Royal Castle, which is filled with period furniture and works of art, and the same distance from Sigismund's Column, which was built in 1644 in honour of King Sigismund III Vasa who moved Poland's capital from Krakow to Warsaw. The city has a thriving food and nightlife scene -- many of Warsaw's coolest restaurants and bars can be found in Praga, a hip neighbourhood in the east of the city.

The interiors in the quirky rooms are inspired by artists and writers, including René Magritte, M.C. Escher and Lewis Carroll. The Alice room features a chessboard floor, a throne-style armchair and walls decorated with playing cards. In the Maharaja room you'll find a four-poster bed topped with Indian silks and antique Hindi furniture. Musical memorabilia and sheet music feature in the Chopin room, which pays tribute to the Polish composer.

All rooms overlook either the Castle Square or St John's Cathedral and have free Wi-Fi. There's no restaurant on site but breakfast is available on request.
