The biggest city in the South West, Bristol has undergone something of a renaissance in recent years and has lots to offer visitors all year round. The Mercure Holland House Bristol is close to the bars and restaurants of Harbourside, and is only 10 minutes' walk from Bristol Temple Meads station. You’ll be staying in an ideal location to visit all of the attractions and there is a car park on site (though an extra charge applies).
The city is great for children -- families should definitely visit At-Bristol, an interactive science museum that's just a 10-minute walk. The Aquarium is also nearby, as is the museum ship SS Great Britain, designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. For adults, the trendy neighbourhood of Clifton, with its cafes and boutique shops, is a 10-minute drive, as is the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. Further afield, Cheddar Gorge is under 20 miles away and Bath is just over 10 miles. Both are highly recommended day trips.
The hotel has an indoor pool (the water depth is consistent throughout), a well equipped gym, and there are treatment rooms for massages (extra charge applies). The Urban Bar & Kitchen is open for lunch and dinner, and a continental buffet breakfast is also served here in the mornings – eggs Benedict, kippers and porridge can be ordered from an à la carte menu.
Upstairs, the rooms are a good size and have air conditioning. Those on the higher floors are quieter. Upgraded Privilege Rooms come with complimentary soft drinks in the mini bar, free Wi-Fi and a Nespresso coffee machine.
