The Hilton Santo Domingo attracts many different kinds of travelers, but ultimately appeals most to business guests and convention-goers. It is a 15-minute walk to Santo Domingo's business district, with enough local color, like sea views from the pool and live music at the on-site bar, to appeal to everyone.
Rooms are geared toward long-term guests, containing kitchenettes, modern technology and rainfall showerheads. The rooms are also totally soundproof, ensuring solid sleeps before big meetings. Though not particularly tropical or fancy, they're very comfortable, with plush bedding.
The pool is lovely, overlooking the ocean and serviced by a bar. The fifth-floor bar hosts popular live music nights, and the restaurant serves a lavish breakfast buffet. At night the area can feel a bit sketchy, but during the day it's bustling with suits, tourists and locals.
