Half a block from Times Square's main crossroads, the Row NYC hotel is extremely well-placed for a big city visit. Neon lights flash and flare on the surrounding streets, which are filled with Broadway theaters, convivial restaurants, and some of the flashiest outposts of popular clothing brands. The lively timbre of the neighbourhood carries through into the hotel. A two-year, top-to-toe renovation brought about $140 million in changes. Rooms are dressed in soothing neutrals, with bright accent walls that look like neon signs -- don't worry, it's just wallpaper that comfortably darkens down when it's time for some shut-eye.
Moody hallways have murals of hip New York neighbourhoods, from the East Village to SoHo, and getting to each of them is easy, as nearly every major subway line stops within a block or two of the hotel. Hand-pulled pizzas are fired up in the lobby cafe, which also serves cheese platters curated by Murray's Cheese Shop in Greenwich Village. The lobby is decorated with digital projections of celebrity photos from disco-age mega-paparazzo Ron Galella.
Note: The hotel charges an additional facilities fee of $27.50 plus tax per room, per night. The fee covers the following services: all local, long-distance and international phone calls; premium high-speed wireless internet access for unlimited devices; an eco-friendly, collapsible 16-ounce water bottle to use at the hotel’s water filtration stations; internet access and printing services in the iMac lounge; and luggage storage on arrival and/or departure until 11 p.m.
