The hotel is a 10-minute drive from Caernarfon, home to a 13th-century castle and cobbled Georgian streets, and just a little further from the Isle of Anglesey, which offers "miles of inspiring coastline, hidden beaches, chocolate-box villages" (Lonely Planet). With Snowdon looming large in the background, it is a walker's paradise -- there are multiple hikes and trails in Snowdonia National Park and the North Wales coastline right on the doorstep. Other local attractions include the Snowdon Mountain Railway, Plas Newydd Country House & Gardens and the Welsh Mountain Zoo -- all within a 40-minute drive.
According to The AA, there are "good cooking skills on show" at the hotel's 2-AA-Rosette Llwyn y Brain restaurant, which makes good use of local produce and is also listed in The Michelin Guide 2015. Alternatively, there's more informal dining in the Conservatory brasserie.
