Trip Planning with Friends
Traveling is a must to get through winter -- but coordinating a long weekend or longer with friends takes advanced planning, making it tough to take advantage of last-minute deals. With Getaways, you can secure a great deal before you know when you want to use it.
Some friends and I jumped on a South Beach offer back in January. After some back and forth about which weekend would fit everyone’s schedule, we’ve finally booked our dates with the hotel and are heading down for a mini-vacation in March.
Here are some things to keep in mind when planning a trip with friends:
- Not all travel buddies are created equal: Like rooming with your best friend, traveling can bring out people’s eccentricities; plan a trip with someone you know you’ll be compatible with
- Keep your destination in mind: I once hiked Kauai’s Napali Coast with a few folks who were afraid of heights; needless to say, it’s important to consider what you’ll be doing, and if everyone in your group is up for it (be that dining, sightseeing or backpacking along cliffs)
- Flexibility is key, in planning, en route and throughout your trip: Know upfront that plans will likely go awry and you’ll be less stressed about snafus and more able to enjoy yourself
- Make some memories! Experiencing a new place is even better when you’re in good company!
