Explore Chicago with Foursquare

Foursquare enthusiasts in Chicago can add a few new badges to their collection if they know where to go.  Explore Chicago has launched three city-themed badges to unlock revolving around the blues, hot dogs and movie sites.  Five “check-ins” per badge at eligible locations, and they’re yours!

The Chicago Blues Foursquare badge: Chicago’s blues scene is legendary, and your trip isn’t complete without taking in some music. Blues clubs abound, check in at Buddy Guy’s Legends or hit up Kingston Mines’ late-night sets that go until 4 a.m. Add some history to the mix at Willie Dixon’s Blues Heaven Foundation at 2120 S. Michigan. The foundation promotes blues history and supports working musicians, but it was once the site of the renowned Chess Records which claimed Etta James, Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf and Chuck Berry on its roster of artists.

The Celery Salt Foursquare badge: With numerous places to get a quality Chicago dog, this badge should be a delicious one to come by. Visit classic favorites such as Superdawg and Wiener’s Circle or swing by your favorite ballpark to get your fix (Wrigley or U.S. Cellular depending on your allegiance). Hot Doug’s has also become a wildly popular option with its gourmet take on dogs accompanied with duck fat fries, but be prepared to wait in line!

On Location Foursquare badge: Be it Metropolis or Gotham City, Chicago has been the backdrop for many famous TV and film productions and not just of the superhero variety. Choose from six “movie experiences” to unlock this badge and relive your favorite flicks. Check in at Old Chicago Post Office, featured as Gotham National Bank in "The Dark Knight;" “shake a tail feather” at the mural on 47th and S. Prairie Avenue, the location of the fictional “Ray’s Musical Exchange” in The Blues Brothers; or be captivated by the Chagall windows at the Art Institute as in "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off."

Note: All prices on links above will appear in U.S. Dollars.
