Chicago's Restaurant Week: Feb. 17-28, 2011

From Feb. 17-28, chefs from more than 200 Chicago restaurants will be showing why the city continues to evolve as a foodie favourite. During Chicago Restaurant Week, participating eateries will be sharing some of their favourite dishes at discounted prices. Prix fixe menus start at US$22 for lunches and US$33 or US$44 for dinners.

And visitors can extend the savings by pairing one of these Restaurant Week reservations with a deal from our Chicago hotels section. Many of the hotels featured on our site have participating restaurants and available travel dates over the 10 days of the event.

Some include:

  • The Seneca Hotel & Suites, which is offering a 45% discount on current prices through April, is home to The Saloon Steakhouse, which will be serving both lunch and dinner for Restaurant Week. The Steakhouse is a 2010 winner of Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence. The menus features a variety of fish, beef, and you guessed it, steak, options. At dinner, be sure to try the braised Wagyu cheeks with roasted garlic mashed potato, crispy shallots and mushrooms.
  • Lockwood, within The Palmer House Hilton, serves modern American fare at this Loop hotel. For Restaurant Week, Lockwood has created both lunch and dinner menus that feature free-range Amish chicken, grilled skirt steak with mac and cheese and a signature burger. For US$95, stay Jan. 26 - March 4, a savings of as much as 60% on summer rates.
  • Zest, known for its lounge feel and mix of American and international tastes, will be serving both lunch and dinner during Restaurant Week. With a dining room that overlooks Michigan Avenue, diners can try entrees of miso-glazed Alaskan salmon during lunch or slow braised short ribs over dinner, among several other choices. The InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile is offering rooms at 45% off regular rates Feb. 9-19 and 26 at $100 per night.

Other hotels on the Chicago page are near some of the hottest eateries in their neighborhood. The 4-star Hyatt Regency is a few blocks from Quartino Ristorante, an upscale Italian place that will serve both lunch and dinner. The JW Marriott Chicago is walking distance from The Gage, a gastro pub with a mix of salads, fish entrees and more for both meals.

Remember, many of these restaurants are some of the most popular in town. These seatings can go fast. Book early! Taxes, gratuities and beverages are extra.
