In an effort to spur last-minute bookings before the end of 2010, many major U.S. hotel chains have launched sales. From luxury rooms on Manhattan’s Madison Avenue to rooms overlooking Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, nightly stays across the country are now as much as $150 off regular rates in the coming weeks. Don’t wait to book as many of these sales have short windows.

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the best offers we’re seeing in the U.S. right now. (Note: all prices below are in U.S dollars, and all links will bring you to the U.S. Travelzoo site, where prices are listed in U.S. dollars.)

Omni Hotels & Resorts just launched a holiday sale at more than 30 properties nationwide for travel Dec. 18 - Jan. 9. Nights start at $59 a night. Many of these properties are available at the discounted rates over Christmas and New Year's Eve in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, San Diego and San Francisco. Book by Dec. 31.

Starwood Resorts launched a Cyber Monday sale that continues for one week and offers 35% off at resorts and hotels throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Travel is valid January-April, which is peak season at many of these places, including Mexico and Hawaii. This sale ends Friday.

Two Hyatt brands -- Hyatt Place and Summerfield Suites -- have an offer right now for 50% off a third night at these extended-stay properties through Jan 17. More than 150 hotels nationwide are included in the sale; prices start at $69 per night before the discount. These properties also include free breakfast and Wi-Fi as part of the stay. Dates around the Christmas and New Year’s holidays are expected to sell out first.

The InterContinental Hotels Group -- parent company of InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites -- has two promotions in the market. Guests can earn either free nights or double points in the promotion that ends tonight. Rooms at properties such as Candlewood Suites Houston-Galleria, start at $52 per night. Already stayed at an InterContinental Hotels brand property since Sept. 1? The chain is also reimbursing travellers for checked-bag fees in a promotion running through the end of the year.

With its advance-purchase rates, Radisson is offering as much as 25% off rooms nationwide. In December, book 14, 21 or 28 days in advance to get the lowest rates in cities including Seattle, Philadelphia and Minneapolis.

Guests can save 25% on regular rates at Country Inn and Suites during weekends and holidays through December. To get these discounted rates, rooms must be purchased two, three or four weeks in advance. We’ve found that city-centre and airport properties offer the largest discounts.
