A flurry of ski and snow operators are offering early-bird discounts on holidays and accommodation this winter. If you’re willing to book soon, you can take advantage of perks including free lift passes, excursions and ski hire, plus discounts of up to $480 (£300) on trips to top mountain resorts.
While ski holidays have traditionally been prohibitively expensive, a series of seasons with unpredictable snowfall and a lack of early bookings have driven ski and snow operators to offer extra incentives to get people to book in -- and we’re reaping the benefits!
While there are corking deals to Canada, many say the best bargain ski spots are in Europe. Shun the swanky resorts of Chamonix and Verbier if you’re looking for a cheap ski break, as in-resort prices for dinner and drinks are astronomical. Instead, elect to stay in one of the many up-and-coming cheap-and-cheerful resorts cropping up in Europe’s lesser-known ski hubs. Borovets in Bulgaria, the Italian Alps and Andorra all offer great snow conditions and affordable apres-ski, too.
When booking your ski break, also look at the extras included. Perks such as lift passes, free ski hire and transfers to and from the airport can save on costly fees once you’ve landed. Alternatively, look to self-package: with great chalet-only rates on offer, you can team up cozy accommodation with a hire car and a low-cost airline flight to create your own bargain ski break.
