65th Annual Tony Awards Held

The 65th annual Tony Awards took place at New York City’s Beacon Theatre last night, and in a season that some have called one of the most exciting in Broadway history, 10 plays and musicals were honored. The biggest winner of the night was “The Book of Mormon” – the irreverent new musical by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Veteran Broadway actors Sutton Foster (“Anything Goes”) and Norbert Leo Butz (“Catch Me if You Can”) each took home their second Tony award, but several newcomers to the Great White Way were also honored. In addition to Parker and Stone, the award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical went to John Laroquette, making his Broadway debut alongside Daniel Radcliffe in the revival of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.” And Ellen Barkin (“The Normal Heart”) took home the statue for Best Featured Actress in a Play.
