Sydney is the most populous city in Australia, located on the south-east coast. It has a temperate climate with warm summers and cool winters (but remember that in the southern hemisphere the seasons are switched!). Sydney is not only one of the most multicultural cities in the world, but also the 15th most expensive city in the world.
If you are looking to travel around Australia, domestic airline flights are the best way to cover large distances in a short time. Sydney is accessible from and can be a jump off point for cities such as Melbourne (MEL), Perth (PER) and Brisbane (BNE). Prices vary on all flights to and within Australia, so to find cheap flights, make sure to shop around, as there are many airlines who service these routes.
If you would rather rent a car while in Sydney, there is a myriad of car rental companies, but remember they drive on the left-hand side! You can also book cheap tickets for bus travel or rail. If travelling locally, Sydney is served by a wide variety of public transport including trains, buses, ferries, monorail, light rail and trams.
If you have an active member travelling with you, they will never have a dull moment, as sports are everywhere. Rugby is the most popular sport although they have representation in many other sports, such as cricket, field hockey and soccer to name a few.
Conversely, if you are into cinema, Australia is home to a huge industry. "The Matrix" and "Superman Returns" were taped in Australia. Famous actors from "Down Under" include Nicole Kidman, Hugh Jackman, Heath Ledger, Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.
