If you’re among the Travelzoo Top 20 readers who took a shopping tour of China with this deal, we’d like to hear your reviews of the trip.

We liked the deal for the range of cities, the landmarks it visited, the number of departure points across the U.S. and of course, the almost unbelievable $649 starting price.

But what did you think? We’d love to get feedback on your trip so that we can share some extracts of your reviews in future China deals.

Tell us what you liked, what you disliked and any tips for future travelers.

My 18 year old daughter and I did the China Highlights 10 day through Travel Zoo with Nexus Holidays. We went to Beijing, Wuxi, Xi’an, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Shanghai among other cities. In all fairness, I must say that this was our first land tour (normally we cruise) and I was incredibly disappointed. I felt that there was way too much to try to see in such a short period of time. There was an incredible amount of walking (one day we did 10.5 miles) – which was fine for my daughter and I, but not everyone on the tour was able to keep up. In most places there were no elevators (lots of steps!). Customer service did not exist….we had to schlep our own luggage, there was no assistance. The food was great the first day (most meals were included), but after that it was the same food breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. DO NOT purchase any of the optional programs ahead of time….we were overcharged. People on our bus bought the same tickets that we pre-purchased for less money. Tickets were not purchased ahead of time by the tour company, so if people chose to purchase tickets they could do so at a reduced rate. (Example, we prepaid $50 U.S./per ticket for some of the optional programs, but purchased the day of the show, they were $41 U.S.) I contacted the tour company requesting a refund, but have not heard anything back from them. Most of the hotels were very nice, however….even though smoking is not allowed in hotel rooms, most of the rooms smell like smoke. There were several times that we needed to request a change of rooms due to the smokey smell and/or mold in the rooms. Our tour guides spent more time on the phone than they did addressing us, even to the point that when we did ask questions, we never received the courtesy of answers. ALWAYS check your purchases before leaving the stores. At the pearl factory we were given an empty box after purchasing a pearl necklace and another person received an empty box after purchasing some electronics. Flights were generally good – too early some mornings. . .and a bit disorganized. Our tour guide sent us to the wrong terminal when we were going to Xi’an. . .which would not be a problem, except NOBODY speaks ENGLISH! In Beijing on our return flight home it was a royal F*** up! Hainan Airlines was great. . .not so much Nexus Holidays. We felt like they just dropped us off at the airport and said “Good luck getting home.” Every day was pretty much get up, get moving – hardly any down time (except the bus rides (no bathrooms on the buses) ) – up in the a.m. throw your suitcases on the bus, onto the next city, don’t get back to your hotel until after dinner and/or the show….and then you do it all again the next day. Most of the shows were all the same…no reason to do them all. Face masks were not necessary for the air quality outside, came in handy for the public rest rooms though. Would NOT book through Nexus again.
