With average summer temperatures of 100 F, Phoenix might not top your travel bucket list for the next few months. But with deals up to 65% off luxury resorts and flights, we think it should be.

The key to making the most of a Phoenix summer trip is coming up with enjoyable ways to stay cool. Think this means sitting in a hotel room, AC cranked, all day long? Think again — we’ve compiled our favorite ways to beat the heat this summer.

1. Water parks, unique pools and lazy rivers

Who says water parks are just for kids?! It’s no surprise that Phoenix is home to some of the best water parks, lazy rivers, and pools — including many at resorts, like The Wigwam or Arizona Grand Resort (pictured). Grab an inner tube and get to get wet and wild.

2. Chase Field swimming pool

Few things say “Phoenix” quite like swimming pools and baseball, so it’s no surprise that their stadium combines both with a one-of-a-kind sidelines swimming pool. It’s unfortunately connected to a suite, so only accessible via a private event or party package. That being said, if you have a group of friends looking for one of the most unique experiences in Major League Baseball, it’s worth splurging on the space.

3. Museums

Ready to retreat into an air-conditioned sanctuary? Head to some of Phoenix’s best museums, including the Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, Arizona Capitol Museum (pictured) and — our favorite picks for kids — the Hall of Flame Fire Museum, Musical Instrument Museum and Arizona Science Center.

4. Sweet Treats

Talk about multitasking. For satiating that sweet tooth and cooling off at the same time, look no further than Phoenix’s best summertime snacks. Grab a snow cone at Tropical Sno, ice cream at Churn, or — if you’re over 21 — a boozy “jacked” shaved ice with Jacked Ice‘s bartending service.

5. Misted Patios

Thankfully for us, many restaurants in Phoenix have caught on to the best way to keep cool while dining alfresco: misters. Find them keeping patrons cool on outdoor patios and rooftops across the city, like local favorite Postino Wine Bar.
