About the Lodge: With its Georgian buildings, winding streets and Roman baths, Bath is "the grandest and most elegant" city in England, according to Condé Nast Traveller. It can also be on the expensive side, but the 4-star Bailbrook Lodge is a reasonably priced option less than 10 minutes' drive from the city centre.
It has 15 bedrooms with views of the property's pretty gardens and the Avon Valley beyond. Rooms are all different shapes and sizes, but DVD players, iPod docking stations, cotton slippers and tea- and coffee-making facilities are standard in all rooms, and Wi-Fi is free throughout. There is no lift, so ask for a ground-floor room if anyone in your party has mobility requirements.
Cooked breakfast is made to order, and there is also a choice of pastries, cereal and fruit. Snacks, including afternoon tea, are served in the lounge throughout the day and there's a small bar. There is no on-site restaurant serving dinner but there are a multitude of dining options in Bath.
There is plenty of free off-street parking, but finding parking in the city can be tricky. There is a bus stop a 5-minute walk from the hotel with a regular service into the city centre.
