About the tour: This tour from G Adventures is divided into two sections. The first is the Golden Triangle circuit visiting Delhi, Agra and Jaipur; the second a river cruise on the Ganges.

The tour begins with a hotel stay in India's vibrant capital city, Delhi. During your time here you’ll enjoy a walking tour of the old city. Next you’ll travel to Agra to visit the majestic Taj Mahal -- the exquisite white-marble and stone mausoleum built in memory of Emperor Shah Jahan's wife -- considered to be one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Next is the 'Pink City' of Jaipur where you'll explore ancient Amber Fort, the City Palace and the fascinating 18th-century Jantar Mantar Observatory. During this portion of the tour you'll also visit the rural village of Sawarda where you'll stay in a heritage home and meet with village elders and locals to discuss a number of interesting topics. A further night in Delhi brings the Golden Triangle circuit to a close.

Following a flight to Kolkata you’ll then embark the Varuna Riverboat for a 7-night cruise along the river Ganges. Ports of call include Barrackpore, Kalna, Matiari, Murshidabad and Farakka. The itinerary includes 11 tours including visits to a number of historic sights and monuments, museums, temples and palaces. The boat sleeps 24 passengers and during your time on board you’ll enjoy freshly cooked Indian cuisine and talks by a knowledgeable local guide.
