About the package: This 10-day visit includes multiple arranged tours of some of Italy’s most-loved destinations, as well as plenty of free time in which to relax and explore at your own pace.
The tour starts with a 3-night stay in Rome, described by Lonely Planet as “one of the world's most beautiful and inspiring capitals”. You’ll have plenty of free time to sample the local cuisine and visit iconic sights such as the Colosseum, St Peter's Basilica and the Roman Forum. You'll also take a guided tour of Vatican City including Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel. What's more, you get to jump the queue -- handy for the busy summer season.
Leaving Rome behind, you’ll visit the medieval town of Siena -- a UNESCO World Heritage Site -- and San Gimignano, where you'll sample local wines and an antipasto selection. The next three nights will be based in the Tuscan countryside, from where you’ll enjoy visits to Florence and Pisa, and have the option to take an additional day trip to Le Cinque Terre. On your way to Venice you’ll stop at Modena for some balsamic vinegar tasting and Verona, home to the balcony where Shakespeare’s Juliet is said to have been wooed by Romeo.
The final three nights are spent in Venice, “one of the most beautiful cities in the world” (Condé Nast Traveller). You'll be treated to a private boat tour of the Grand Canal and a guided walking tour of the city, before being left free to explore on your own, when you can take the opportunity to discover famous sights such as St Marks Square, The Bridge of Sighs and the Doge’s Palace.
