About the ship: Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary 2 -- winner of the Best Luxury Cruise Ship in Luxury Travel Magazine’s Gold List Awards for 2016 -- has recently undergone a $176m refurbishment that took inspiration from the original Queen Mary, which was launched in 1934. The ship is one of the last remaining traditional ocean liners and features “sweeping staircases, soaring public rooms, a 360-degree promenade deck, and a grand ballroom” (Fodor’s). Each stateroom includes an interactive flat-screen TV, and seating area and bathrobes for use during the cruise.
The itinerary: Departing from Sydney or Brisbane, the cruise visits the Whitsunday Islands in Australia, before ports of call in Brunei and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The cruise concludes in Hong Kong, where you’ll spend the night in a hotel before flying back to Brisbane.
