The architect who added curve and glitz to famous Miami hotels in the 1950s later focused on New York to sculpt the wavy, shimmering wall of the DoubleTree Metropolitan. Current prices at the hotel have dropped as much as 40% to the following nightly rates:

  • $125 ... Mondays-Fridays February 4 - March 10
  • $159 ... Saturdays February 4 - March 10
  • $169 ... Thursdays-Sundays March 11-24
  • $189 ... Thursdays-Saturdays in April

A recent $25 million renovation updated the retro style, adding a lobby bar that will serve two travelers a free welcome cocktail ($24 value) before they head up to a room with a king bed and free Wi-Fi ($15 value).

Other landmarks rise within 10 blocks of the hotel, from the towering art deco of Rockefeller Center and the Chrysler Building to the mid-century monolith of the United Nations.
