American Airlines and American Eagle have launched a new nationwide sale that cuts fares between popular destinations this spring. Flights start at $39 each way, based on roundtrip travel.

The sale includes deals to and from cities such as New York City, Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago for travel April 12 - May 27. Depart any day of the week, but a Saturday night stay is required.

Travelers who book directly on AA.com will avoid booking fees and find the lowest fares. If a lower fare is found for the exact same flight and itinerary for at least $5 less on another Web site (for the same day of purchase), American Airlines will refund the difference and give a $50 promotion code for use toward a future flight.

Purchase Requirements: Reservations are required. Tickets booked on AA.com must be purchased at least 14 days prior to departure, or within 1 day of making reservations, whichever comes first, but no later than 11:59 p.m. (CT) March 22, 2010. Travel Period: Fares are valid for travel April 12 through May 27, 2010. Valid Travel Days: Fares shown are valid for travel daily. Min/Max Stay: A Saturday-night minimum stay is required. Reservation Change Fee: If reservations change criteria are met, changes are subject to $150 fee plus any fare difference. See below for change criteria. Ticket Type: Fares shown are each way based on Economy class travel, and are in U.S. dollars. Availability: Seats are limited and sale fares may not be available on all flights. Fares and schedules are subject to change without notice. Additional Fees and Other Considerations: Additional Fees: Fares do not include (a) a federal excise tax of $3.70 per U.S. domestic flight segment, defined as one takeoff and landing, of a passenger's itinerary; (b) up to $18 per round trip in local airport charges; and (c) September 11th Security Fee of $2.50 per enplanement originating at a U.S. airport. Tickets may also be obtained (and changes may be made to tickets purchased from sources other than American Airlines, such as travel agents, online third-party web sites and other airlines) through an American Airlines Telephone Reservations Office for an additional $20, or at an American Airlines Travel Center or Airport Ticket Office for an additional $30. Customers who purchase domestic economy class tickets will be charged $25 each way for the first checked bag and $35 each way for the second checked bag. Exceptions to our checked bag policy do apply; click here for complete details. Our carry-on policy of one personal item (such as a purse or laptop bag) plus one bag remains in place. Ticketing Changes: Tickets are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Changes must be made before your ticketed flight's scheduled departure time. If you cancel your flight prior to scheduled departure time, the ticket will be valid for one year from the date of issue on an unused ticket or one year from travel origination on a partially used ticket. If you do not cancel your flight before scheduled departure time, the ticket has no value. Valid Carriers: Advertised fares are valid only on American Airlines, American Eagle, and AmericanConnection and do not apply to other codeshare flights. A portion or all travel booked on American Airlines may be operated by American Eagle or AmericanConnection. American Eagle is operated by American Eagle Airlines, Inc., or Executive Airlines, Inc., which are wholly owned by AMR Corporation, the parent company of American Airlines. AmericanConnection service is operated by independent contractor Chautauqua Airlines, Inc. American Eagle and AmericanConnection are registered trademarks of American Airlines, Inc.
