Adore Cruises has cut a sizeable $777 (£500) off a 26-night bumper Christmas and New Year's Eve trip that packs in a return transatlantic crossing on the Queen Mary 2, a cruise around the Eastern Caribbean and hotel stays in New York. The price is now $2,950 (£1,899) per person, less than $117 per night.
The trip begins on 15 December with a transatlantic sailing on Cunard's Queen Mary 2, with accommodation in an Inside Stateroom. The ship spends a week crossing the Atlantic before reaching New York. The Queen Mary 2 -- a 5-star ship with an "unequalled maritime heritage" (2013 Berlitz Guide to Cruising & Cruise Ships) -- has a spa, the Royal Court Theatre and the Queens Room, which is the largest ballroom at sea.
After dropping anchor in the Big Apple, guests will spend a night in New York at the 4-star Lexington New York City -- located in Manhattan, 10-minutes' walk from Fifth Avenue's high-end shops and the Rockefeller Centre -- before boarding the Norwegian Gem for the 9-night Caribbean leg of the trip over Christmas and New Year's Eve.
From New York, Norwegian Gem heads to San Juan (Puerto Rico), Philipsburg (St Maarten), Charlotte Amalie (St Thomas) and Samana (Dominican Republic), giving guests a great taster of the Eastern Caribbean. Onboard festivities will include a traditional Christmas dinner, carol singing and a captain's countdown on the bridge for New Year -- Santa will also make an appearance. The cruise ends back in New York. Accommodation will be in an Inside Stateroom.
The holiday concludes with another 2-night stay at the Lexington New York City, followed by a return transatlantic journey to Southampton on the Queen Mary 2. Writing about Queen Mary 2 the 2013 Berlitz Guide to Cruising & Cruise Ships says "that as a transatlantic ocean liner, this ship has no equal".
